⭐ Overall Rating: 3.5/5

The Plot

Shah Rukh Khan plays a dual role — Bablu, a sweet-natured, bumbling chef, and Manu, a hardened criminal on the run. Chaos ensues when their identities get mixed up, leading to a whirlwind of comic situations, mistaken identities, and classic ‘90s-style drama.

Bablu wants to impress the girl-next-door (Juhi Chawla) and follow his dreams of cooking, while Manu is escaping the cops and settling old scores. When their paths cross, it’s an entertaining ride of misadventures and high-energy SRK magic.

What Works

  • Shah Rukh Khan shines in both roles. His comic timing as Bablu and cold-blooded swagger as Manu are a showcase of his range.

  • Juhi Chawla brings charm and sparkle, with her chemistry with SRK still delightful.

  • The soundtrack by Anu Malik is super catchy — especially "Mere Mehboob Mere Sanam" and "Kathai Aankhon Wali".

  • It's full of the classic Bollywood masala: over-the-top action, goofy humor, and heartwarming romance.

What Doesn’t

  • The plot gets a bit too far-fetched in places — even by ‘90s standards.

  • Some of the slapstick comedy feels outdated now.

  • Manu’s storyline lacks depth, making him more of a caricature villain than a fully fleshed-out character.

Verdict

Duplicate is a light-hearted, feel-good throwback to the late '90s — colorful, loud, and packed with Shah Rukh Khan's undeniable charisma. It’s not a masterpiece, but it’s the kind of film you watch when you want to laugh, sing along, and enjoy some classic SRK double-role madness.
